Whirlpool Dishwasher approximately 10+ years old.

Water laying inside the dishwasher.

Was midway through the first wash cycle.

Dishwasher does have power to it, but when you move the dial to different settings, it does not turn on.

Just had a new drain (for sink and dishwasher) installed by a plumber.

Could the drain be plugged/not hooked up? Could the motor just have gone?
dishwasher drains directly into pipe, not through garbage disposal.

connections between dishwasher and electric are tight (not a loose wire)

I had a new disposal installed. I saw the plumber removed the knockout plug in disposer. But when I run the dishwasher, the water came out from the right lower underside of dishwasher. Anyone knows what’s going on?
It’s not leaking all time. When I run the cycle, it leaks for a couple of minutes and then everything is fine. It only leaks from right lower underside. Weird.

My tenant reports a clanking noise when the washer fills. She reports that it goes away when she runs the tap. My normal plumber says its a blocked solenoid; won’t touch it and says I should call an appliance repair company.
A couple of questions:
Approximate repair cost?
Normal wear and tear or other cause? The washer is 3.5 years old and was problem-free and only ever used by me prior to a few months ago.

Any recommendations for an appliance repair company? The property is in San Diego, CA.

Washing machine trouble?

Imani asked:

I just moved to a new place a month ago. I hooked up my washing machine and it worked fine until a few days ago. It won’t fill up. As the water is going into the tub, it’s draining out. I had the appliance repair man here, and he told me that the drain pipe wasn’t long enough, thus not creating a vacuum to keep the water in the tub.. I had to lengthen the drain pipe in order to fix the problem.

My question is : Can this possibly be true? It makes no sense. How could it work for a month, and suddenly not work anymore.. how could the drain pipe be long enough for a month, and not now?
He didn’t charge me anything, and he didn’t recommend a plumber. He just told me to buy a length of pipe and lengthen it myself.. but I still think the washer’s broken.
