We are renting a townhouse. One week after moving in and two days of use of the refrigerator, the freezer was broken. We did not do anything except putting frozen food into the freezer. Should we pay the $100 deduction for repairing the fridge?

Why are you paying a deduction at all? Tenants should not be responsible at all for normal wear and tear and when the freezer goes out, it is the landlords entire responsibility. . .unless you have jabbed it or like one tenant did to me and pulled all the plugs out of the freezer and threw them away. Or did you sign a lease stating that you would pay something on all repairs? If you did, you are stuck. Most places only require that you pay for damages or anything above normal wear and tear.
Absolutely not. This has nothing to do with you. Review your lease.
It comes down to the fine print in the lease… In my state-we are not required to provide a fridge…Sometimes i provide one or ones left behind, but although its mine–i will not be responsible for repair-or replacement. If a new one is needed it is considered the tenants property and my leases are claused to reflect this…Review your Lease and talk with your landlord-it is obvious it was broke when you moved in.
